Exhibition Overview:
Max Grover has created 53 new paintings during the past year, inspired by his own diverse and whimsical collections of souvenirs, toys, statuettes, domestic items and ephemera. To enhance the viewer’s experience, BIMA is also showcasing Grover’s collections used in the paintings - hundreds of items including black cats, bolo ties, wrestlers, baseball memorabilia, and souvenir pins. Come see this amazing array of colorful, playful paintings and personal collections borrowed from BIMA's favorite Hunter, Gatherer, Painter.
About the Artist:
Max Grover is an artist, illustrator, and gallery owner living in Port Townsend, WA. An artist since childhood, Max exhibits his works in galleries throughout the Pacific Northwest and California. He is the creator of many popular children’s books including The Accidental Zucchini, which received a Parents’ Choice Award. Grover uses familiar and simple motifs, making them fun and whimsical. He is a favorite among the youngest generations. Max’s painting style is full of charm and inspires the young at heart.

About BIMA:
Bainbridge Island Museum of Art opened to the public on June 14, 2013, and has since welcomed more than 80,000 visitors from the region and all over the world. Designed by architect Matthew Coates, Principal of Coates Design Architects, the 20,000 square foot art museum is targeted for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold status. The art museum is a collecting museum with a focus on artists and collections from the Kitsap and Olympic Peninsulas, as well as the broader Puget Sound region. Located near the Seattle/Bainbridge Island ferry terminal at the corner of Highway 305 and Winslow Way, the main street of downtown. Admission to the art museum is free thanks to sponsors and members. Exhibitions rotate with the seasons (approx. 12-15 shows per year).
Arts education for people of all ages, interests, abilities, and skill levels is a core value and a primary function of the art museum. Our offerings include: gallery tours, artist talks, panel discussions, films, print and digital publications and hands-on art activities are featured. Our 95-seat auditorium hosts artist lectures, films, classical films, poetry and theatrical readings, musical performances, and community meetings.
